Sally Mann

Sally Mann is an American photographer who challenges the issues of morality in contemporary society. Every day more and more children are acting far from their actual age. The ages of kids doing risk-taking behaviors such as drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes are becoming increasingly younger. Sally Mann's photographs confront society about the problem that children are acting or trying to be mature than they should be. Children are being influenced by bad role models, movies, shows, social media and advertisements which is causing them to be this way.
In her photograph Candy cigarette we see a young girl in a dress holding a cigarette. The cigarette is a sign of adult behavior because it is stereotypical for an adult to smoke a cigarette. Her facial expression and the way she is dressed further transcends the idea of the stereotypical or ideal adult figure while challenging the public with the issue of morality. Sally Mann has successfully showed the issues of morality.

In my photograph I have appropriated Sally Mann's photo called Candy cigarette. The image shows the issue of morality within children just like Sally Mann did her to photographs. I have myself sitting in my backyard smoking a cigarette and drinking alcohol which represents the stereotypical adult behaviour. I am acting far from my age and this confronts the audience on the morality happening in the 21st century.
